VOTING RIGHTS
are
FOUNDATIONAL to DEMOCRACY

On Saturday, August 28, 2021, a blistering 90+ degrees day, with no shade on the grounds of the national mall, there was committed determination in the air for the March On For Voting Rights rally. A young teen named Yolanda Rene King, who just happens to be the granddaughter of Martin Luther King, Jr took the stage and approached the podium, with maturity and confidence that belied her youthful appearance. She began her speech with the fervor of seasoned orator delivering a mesmerizing speech, as the backdrop of the United States Capitol accented her presence. With defiance and resolve she demanded . . .

"It's time to wake up the world to STOP TALKING about the DREAM and START LIVING the DREAM. Will we be the generation that earns and wins our freedom once and for all!"
And the crowd howled back in approval "Amen" and "Yes" with the call and response cadence heard at any Sunday African American Southern Baptist Church. All the while, the 20,000+ faithful, sweaty supporters stomped their feet and waved their home-made signs with energy that defied the hot sweltering, humidity of the day.

You see, VOTING RIGHTS ARE FOUNDATIONAL to democracy.
And she gets it.

Nothing else can proceed in a legitimate democracy without full voting rights. In a democracy the people consent to be governed by the power of their vote. When the people's vote is suppressed then it is denied, and the people don't have true representation for the policies they are demanding from their government.

Small Business Owners are the people. If the people are denied their vote then Small Business Owners interests are denied too. That's not right.

VOTING RIGHTS ARE FOUNDATIONAL TO DEMOCRACY
She gets it. Do you get it?
